When I was in high school I had several game systems : Nintendo 64, super Nintendo, and a play station 2. But out of all the games that I had I did not own a horror video game. That soon changed when me and my friends got our hands on Fatal Frame 2.
There were three of us who would take turns with the different tasks; with that we all agreed on several rules. The rules we agreed on was that we always had to play in complete darkness and not one of us could play the game without the other two present. I would be lying if I told you all three of us girls were constantly cursing and shrieking at the game.
What made this game so terrifying you ask? The soundtrack first off helped build a great amount of tension. The main character Mio is trapped in a curse town, trying to save her twin sister. The only weapon she has is a camera. literally that's it. Because the lack of tools you would think the character would showcase a great level of dexterity in their movements. NOPE. Mio had the wonderful ability of moving in two speeds, slow, and fucktard slow. This was even more obvious when you have to herd the gimp twin around the town. I'm not saying it wasn't scary freaky ghosts attack you all the time, and there is some awesome back story on the cursed town. My favorite part was all the creepy puzzles hidden within the game. In the end I love this game because of the memories of hanging out and the fact that playing this thing turns you into a giant ball of panic and tension.
